Options and Prices:
International students are not housed in the same dorms as Chinese students. The International Student Housing consists of the main building and nine auxiliary buildings.
The Main Building offers single and double rooms with 2 kitchens on each floor. The Building is 23 stories tall and has 728 rooms available. Thankfully, there are 4 elevators in the building.
The auxiliary buildings are apartments style buildings. There are 9 units in each building, each one has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and one sitting room. These buildings are older and do not have elevators. Fortunately, they are only seven stories tall so this isn't much of an issue.
A single room in the main building is 80 rmb/day; A double room is 55 rmb/day; a room in the auxiliary building is 45 rmb/day. Electricity, hot water, and WiFi are not included in these cost.
Costs
When you book your room online you have to pay an 800 RMB booking fee. This is prepaid rent and does go towards the total amount of your housing. Then when you check into your room you pay a 200 RMB room deposit that you do get back if there is no damage to your room at the end of the semester.
One thing they don't tell you is that the full semesters housing fees must be paid by the second week of the semester. Make sure your funding will be available to pay this.
You can see some photos and read more information at http://iso.fudan.edu.cn/en/house.htm
I will post more information once I arrive and move in. This will include cost for utilities and photos/ videos of the dorm. I will be staying in the Main Building but I will have friends in the auxiliary buildings so I can show you all of the room types.
